When Sony Xperia 1 VIII launched, it shipped with Android 16, but has since been updated to Android 17 (7 Sep 2026). This phone was originally released on 5 / 2026.
Upcoming updates?
Expected: Android 18, Android 19 and Android 20
Sony has promised to deliver these major Android versions for Sony Xperia 1 VIII: Android 18, Android 19 and Android 20.
However, this is only the manufacturer's promise, as far as we know - Sony might release even further updates to the phone later or might end support earlier on.
